Wall Street wrapped up another positive week, with the S & P 500 closing Friday above 5,000 for the first time ever. It was a pretty light week in terms of economic data releases, though we did get a favorable ISM Services number on Monday. Things will pick up next week with several closely watched macroeconomic updates, including two key government inflation reports. While no Club earnings are scheduled to report earnings in the week ahead, 61 companies in the S & P 500 will deliver their latest quarterly results. Consumer inflation: The main event of the week will come on Tuesday when the January consumer price index (CPI) is released.

Both numbers topped estimates, and still the stock fell after hours, trading below $240 a share as of this writing. At nearly 9 times revenues and 45 times forward earnings estimates, PANW is not a cheap stock, moreover it is still up sharply on the year, and outperforming considerably. Stock replacement strategy One possibility is a stock replacement, selling one's stock holding and replacing that exposure with options. By using a call spread one can maintain some exposure to the upside in the event the stock bounces back. Analysts on Wall Street think Arista Networks is the next premier artificial intelligence play. On Monday, the company reported a blowout third quarter that surpassed Wall Street expectations on both the top and bottom lines. Moving forward, analysts think the company can be the top player in the Ethernet application of AI. "While there remains risk heading into the 800G cycle, we continue to think Arista is well positioned." The analyst reiterated Arista as a top AI pick into 2024.

Oct 30 (Reuters) - Cloud networking solutions provider Arista Networks (ANET.N) forecast fourth-quarter revenue above estimates on Monday, as it expects easing supply chain restraints to underscore enterprise spending, sending its shares up 5.5% in extended trading. Arista has benefited from upbeat capital spending as clients shell out on cloud computing services to support their growing AI needs amid a recovering economy. Arista reported third-quarter revenue of $1.51 billion, a 28.3% increase from a year earlier, beating Street expectations of $1.48 billion. Rival Juniper Networks also beat estimates for third-quarter revenue last week, on the back of upbeat spending from cloud computing clients. On an adjusted basis, Arista posted quarterly profit of $1.83 per share, against expectations of $1.58.

One firm that's perhaps lesser known stands out to portfolio manager Sanjay Ayer, however: Arista Networks — the U.S. cloud-computing and networking equipment company. The social media giant's cautious guidance put pressure on Arista's shares, but the stock remains up around 40% year-to-date. But he added: "Arista is embedded at these companies. They're not [just] an outsourced manufacturer or hardware product provider – they're [also] a research and development partner and they are helping to shape the roadmaps of these companies' networking needs." For Ayer, the company's "customer-centric culture," where its network operators are all trained software engineers, makes it a good investment.
